Despair & Shame: A Page From the Welcoming Way Book

I talk a lot about Welcoming. I thought it might be helpful to offer a glimpse about what it looks like from the inside.

It’s not always comfortable. In fact, sometimes it’s nearly intolerable. The mind seems to hate pain and be desperate for relief and resolution from uncomfortable feelings. But the only peace I’ve ever found has come from finally just letting feelings be as they are.

In doing so, I become a space of love; for myself and hopefully for others. I become patience, tolerance, and acceptance.

Yesterday I was reminded, as I often am, the work always starts at home. My own internal world is the dojo where I am continually invited to practice.
