What Is a Breathing Journey?
Rather listen than read? Here you go.
Early in my relationship with Vince, I’d get all dressed up and hope he noticed.
When he didn’t, I’d feel annoyed or disappointed.
Eventually, I found a solution!
I’d get dressed up, and if he didn’t seem to notice right away I’d say, “Will you tell me I look nice?”
Then he’d perk up, look me up and down, and say “You look SO nice!”
It felt just as good as if he’d noticed on his own, minus the games.
To this day Vince says one of his favorite things about me is that he never has to guess what I want or need.
Well friend, it turns out I’ve been playing games with YOU.
Since last fall, I’ve been offering Breathing Journeys on zoom and at my home. Maybe you’ve noticed? Maybe not.
If you haven’t, it’s because I’ve been shy about it.
Last week I told a friend that leading these journeys is one of my favorite things to do these days.
People seem to love the experience. I think I’m pretty great at facilitating, and it’s such a cool way to finally get the deep rest we all say we want. But I’ve been bummed because of low turnout to the online events.
“Have you actually told people you want them to come?” she asked.
“It’s in my emails,” I said.
“Yeah. But have you actually told them you want them there?”
No. I’ve been holding back. Don’t want to seem pushy? Fear of rejection? Who knows, but it’s time to stop beating around the bush. So here goes…
I would LOVE for you to join one of my Breathing Journeys.

“What is a breathing journey?” you may ask. Great question.
Basically it goes like this*:
-
You show up (online or in person).
-
You get super cozy laying down.
-
For 50 minutes I play a carefully curated playlist while guiding you through different breathing patterns playing with the pace and intensity of inhales, exhales, and holds.
-
The music starts gently, builds throughout, descends at the end.
-
As we build, the change in your body chemistry quiets the part of your brain that plans, worries, tries to figure out. Emotions may surface, old memories could arise, you may find creative solutions to problems. Strong body sensations are common.
-
At the peak, you move energy by yelling into a pillow. My goodness it feels good to yell sometimes!
-
In the end, you will rest in one of the most delicious body states that I personally know.
-
To close, we may share a few final reflections with each other.
-
You go on with your day feeling awesome.
*This only represents a common experience. Yours may differ. This practice isn’t recommended if you’re pregnant, have severe epilepsy or heart condition.
So, now that you know, I’ll say it one more time: If you’re at all curious, I’d love for you to come try it out.
If it’s your first time, come for free! (Use the code FIRSTFREE.)

If you’ve come before and you enjoy it, consider inviting a friend (also free, same code).
If you’ve come before and have just been casual about coming back, know that it matters to me when you’re there.
If you come and have any feedback at all that could make the experience better for you, or more likely for you to sign up, tell me! Just reply to any of my emails.
And if you know this practice isn’t for you, please keep ignoring the schedules I publish each month.
The only thing I love as much as facilitating breathing journeys is writing and sharing my heart with you in these posts.
So thank you for reading, most of all.
With Love,
Leah
